To train advanced researchers in the field of philosophy, religion and the various scientific and humanistic traditions of contemporary thought, fostering an interdisciplinary perspective.

Applicant Profile

To be admitted to the Doctoral Program in Philosophy, Religion and Contemporary Thought, the candidate must be:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree holder, academic or researcher in the area of philosophy, humanities and related fields.
2. Research capacity demonstrated through publications, postgraduate theses and/or pre-thesis projects, which will be evaluated by the Academic Advisory Committee belonging to the Academic Council of the UCM.
3. Demonstrate instrumental proficiency in the English language.
4. Possess the ability to work in a team and individually.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the PhD program in Philosophy, Religion, and Contemporary Thought will be able to evaluate different types of problems arising from the encounter and tension between diverse scientific, socio-cultural, and religious traditions within an environment of intense academic exchange. Furthermore, graduates are expected to be able to formulate and efficiently develop independent research with a clear innovative and social focus; engage in national and international research projects; and train new researchers and academics of scientific and intellectual excellence.
Ethical coherence in a humanist-Christian line. The specific/disciplinary and generic/professional competencies associated with the graduate profile are:

– To design research processes that help solve problems arising from the encounter and tension between different scientific, socio-cultural and religious traditions, applying descriptions and explanations typical of philosophical work.
– Demonstrate ethical consistency between your values and your actions, respecting human rights and actively participating in community organizations, prioritizing social responsibility from a Christian perspective.
– To conduct research that contributes to the development of scientific and applied knowledge, within the context of their educational process.
