goals
The objective of the Doctoral Program in Engineering Sciences is to train researchers with a solid scientific and technological foundation, capable of conducting original and independent research at the forefront of knowledge, so that they may contribute to the scientific and technological development of the planning, design, construction, and management of the infrastructure needed by our society under requirements of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The Program seeks to develop knowledge to solve complex Civil Engineering problems of both national and global relevance, where the innovation component is significant, and emphasizes the capacity to generate knowledge as well as to address multidisciplinary problems.
Applicant Profile
Be in possession of the academic degree of bachelor and / or master's degree granted by Chilean universities.
In case of having foreign academic degrees, these must be equivalent to the previous ones
mentioned. Also have knowledge of the English language, sufficient to understand it in written form, which allows them to read articles, books and access international documents and databases in
effective way.
Graduate profile
The granting of the academic degree of Doctor of Engineering Sciences requires demonstrating mastery of the study area and the ability to carry out research independently, making an original contribution to knowledge in said area.
During their doctoral training, students will acquire skills to face scientific and technological problems in a creative and efficient way and that, due to their diverse nature, require complementing solid theoretical and conceptual bases, with the application of relevant analysis methodologies and techniques in some of the Research lines of the Program.
Lines of investigation
Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure
This line of research seeks to generate fundamental knowledge and technological development on the sustainability and resilience of infrastructure in the different stages of the life cycle of building and civil engineering works, such as design, construction, operation and disposal. .
Geosciences, Environment and Resources
This line of research seeks to generate basic knowledge and technological development on the natural processes of the Earth System, and their interaction and impact on the sustained and sustainable development of society.
