Agreement signed this morning in the city of Madrid, between the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities and the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities, aims to establish the bases of mutual collaboration to carry out academic, teaching activities , research, dissemination of culture and extension of services in all areas of mutual interest.

Fulfilling its international linkage function for university cooperation, the Council of Rectors (CRUCH), represented by its Executive Vice President, Rector Aldo Valle, signed a Framework Agreement for university collaboration with the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE).

This Agreement, which entered into force as of its signature today at the CRUE headquarters in the city of Madrid, will seek to strengthen the alliances between both entities, to exchange models of good practices, advance in the recognition of degrees, doctorate co-tutors and double degree agreements between Spanish and Chilean universities, favoring mobility and collaboration in research, as well as promoting the organization of seminars, among other areas of collaboration. It will be valid for three years and may be renewed, for the same periods, as the parties deem.

In order to ensure the correct compliance with said Agreement and the specific agreements that become effective, a mixed monitoring and control commission will be constituted, made up of two members of CRUE and two appointed by CRUCH, where one of the Members of each party will necessarily be the Secretary General of each entity or the person expressly delegated.

The delegation of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities present at the signing ceremony of this Agreement, was led by Aldo Valle, Executive Vice President of CRUCH and rector of the University of Valparaíso, together with Sergio Bravo, rector of the Universidad de la Frontera ; Darcy Fuenzalida, rector of the Federico Santa María Technical University; Julio Crespo, President of the CRUCH Internationalization Commission; Marcos Avilés, Vice President of said Commission and Christian Blanco, Academic Director of the Council of Rectors.

For its part, the delegation from the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities CRUE, was made up of Mr. Segundo Píriz Durán, President of CRUE; Ms. María Teresa Lozano Mellado, Secretary General; Mr. Carlos Martínez, Director of General Services; Ms. Gema Luna, Director of the Area of Coordination and Support to Sectoral Commissions and Mr. Víctor Jiménez Jara, responsible for Institutional Projects.

Continuing with the program of the CRUCH delegation in Spain, tomorrow, September 12, a meeting is planned between the Vice-Rectors and Directors of International Relations of the CRUE and CRUCH, who are in the city of Seville for the Conference of the European Association of International Education (EAIE).
