The rector of the University of Valparaíso, Aldo Valle, will head a new board whose executive committee will have seven members. This new committee will begin its meetings in March 2015.

The Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities, in its plenary session held at the University of Tarapacá, elected its new leadership, expressed in an executive committee made up of seven members and headed by the rector of the University of Valparaíso, Aldo Valle.

The members of the executive committee for this new term will be the aforementioned rector, Aldo Valle, as executive vice president; the rector of the Catholic University of Maule, Diego Durán, as alternate executive vice president; and the presidents of the Consortium of State Universities, G9, and the Association of Regional Universities: rectors Sergio Bravo (University of La Frontera), Darcy Fuenzalida (Santa María University), and Patricio Sanhueza (University of Playa Ancha). This new board will begin its term in March 2015.

The current executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi - who decided not to run for reelection - congratulated the new board on their election, stating that "we hope they will continue the work of positioning the Council as a relevant actor, especially in light of the alternatives that the higher education reform will present.".

The Council plenary unanimously recognized the work of Rector Zolezzi, expressed in milestones such as the installation of the Grade Ranking and the implementation of a Single Admission System, as well as the launch of an agenda of changes after the results of the Pearson Report on the PSU were known.
