The executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, outlined the CRUCH's commitments for the 2016 Admission Process.

The executive director of the Single Admission System, Angélica Bosch, carried out a detailed analysis of the results and the metric properties of the PSU.

The executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Rector Juan Manuel Zolezzi, the executive director of the Single Admission System, Angélica Bosch, and the acting director of the Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement and Registration (DEMRE), Sergio Carumán, announced the main results of the University Selection Tests (PSU) process in this 2015 Admission Process.

On this occasion, Rector Zolezzi highlighted the Council of Rectors' efforts to provide students with an admissions system characterized by its independence, transparency, and reliability. He also noted that "the selection factors used (PSU, NEM, and Grade Ranking) are evaluated periodically, while complementary instruments for student selection are analyzed, all aimed at achieving greater equity in access to higher education.".

The director of DEMRE, for his part, explained that the PSU administration process was carried out normally throughout the country and reminded everyone of the dates for the following stages of the 2015 Admission Process.

Meanwhile, the executive director of the Unified Admission System, Angélica Bosch, presented the results of the PSU in this 2015 Admission Process. First, she referred to the indicators of the test's metric properties (reliability, level of difficulty of the questions and their degree of discrimination), noting that "the results obtained are highly satisfactory.".

In addition, he made a detailed analysis of the results of each of the tests that make up the test battery (Language and Communication; Mathematics; History, Geography and Social Sciences; and Sciences), according to sociodemographic variables of gender, educational modality (Humanistic Scientific and Technical Professional) and dependence of the educational establishment (municipal, subsidized private and paid private).

He also compared the Ranking Score and the NEM Score between 2014 and 2015, noting that the average Ranking score for this process was 566, while in the previous process it was 562. The average NEM score was 541 for this process and 535 for the previous process.

CRUCH Commitments

At the press conference, Rector Zolezzi mentioned several commitments of the Council of Rectors and the Unified Admission System for the 2016 Admission Process. Among them, advancing the implementation of the agenda of modifications defined from the Pearson Report, in conjunction with the DEMRE of the University of Chile, as well as convening expert committees to evaluate specific areas that require further analysis, such as the Science Test Technical Professional Module.

Regarding the Pure Ranking, he explained that a report will be delivered during the first half of 2015, allowing the Council of Rectors to decide the most opportune moment for its implementation, taking into account what is most appropriate and convenient for high school students. He also announced that an adjustment to the NEM scale will be made in four years, and that a communication campaign targeting first-year high school students will begin this year to ensure they are properly informed.

Rector Zolezzi concluded by saying that "various changes have been implemented and will continue in the same direction, as the spirit that drives the Council of Rectors is to ensure the comprehensive development of its admissions system so that it becomes increasingly better quality, fairer and more inclusive.".
