An unprecedented agreement between the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities and the International Cooperation Agency, AGCI, will allow an increase of 10% of master's scholarship recipients from Latin America and the Caribbean in CRUCH universities.
The Council of Rectors, together with the International Cooperation Agency, signed an agreement that will allow the country to increase by at least 10% the capacity to allocate new master's scholarships in CRUCH universities to students from Latin America and the Caribbean.
This alliance, signed today by the executive vice president of CRUCH, Rector Juan Manuel Zolezzi and Ambassador Ricardo Herrera, executive director of AGCI, will allow students to pursue their postgraduate studies at a preferential rate in the Council's institutions, among other commitments established between both organizations.
Rector Juan Manuel Zolezzi noted that this agreement fulfills a long-held aspiration for the CRUCH institutions, as “the internationalization of our universities is a constant concern. This year, our Council celebrates its 60th anniversary, and we firmly believe that international, academic, and student relations are essential for advancing science, research, teaching, and education.”.
Ambassador Ricardo Herrera celebrated the agreement, hoping it would extend beyond a basic tariff agreement and also support the government's commitment to award 30 scholarships in 2015 to students from Africa, with the goal of reaching 50 in the future. "We are facilitators of cooperation and appreciate CRUCH's help in making more efficient use of available resources, confident that this will not only benefit the training and development of human capital, but also contribute to our shared commitment to the integration and development of Latin America and the Caribbean.".
The AGCI/CRUCH Agreement will provide greater scope for developing joint actions with universities, such as short courses, diplomas, and internships under better conditions, promoting horizontal cooperation with neighboring countries and the rest of the region, considering that the Chilean cooperation scheme includes the Academy, as well as the State and Civil Society.
