The meeting brought together researchers and exhibitors from ten universities of the Council of Rectors, as well as a representative from the Ministry of Education.

The seminar "Equity and Retention in Higher Education: Are we moving towards a structural change?", organized by the University of La Serena on June 26 and 27, was successfully held.

The event was inaugurated by the Academic Vice-Rector of the University of La Serena, Dr. Jorge Catalán, and was attended by the Head of the Academic Innovation Performance Agreement and FIAC, of the Higher Education Division (DIVESUP) of the Ministry of Education, Diana Veneros.

Representing the Council of Rectors (CRUCH) were two researchers from the Unit of Studies of the Unified Admission System (SUA). Tomás Larroucau presented the study “Grade Ranking in the 2014 Admission Process,” and Valeria Signorini led a panel discussion on the presentation “Methodological Proposal for Dropout Studies in Universities.”.

The presence of the Council of Rectors was positively valued by the organizers.

Participating Universities

The seminar program included presentations and lectures by academics from ten universities of the Council of Rectors, who shared the initiatives they have developed to improve equity and student retention.

The following universities participated: Catholic University of Temuco, Catholic University of the North (Antofagasta and Coquimbo campuses), Pontifical Catholic University, University of Magallanes, Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, University of La Frontera, University of Santiago de Chile, University of Chile, Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences and University of La Serena.
