Approximately 90% of the programs maintain the same ranking weighting as last year. The publication of the PSU® test battery facsimiles, incorporating the changes made due to the Curriculum Adjustment, is expected during the last week of June.
The executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, together with the acting director of the Single Admission System (SUA), Angélica Bosch and the acting director of the Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement and Registration (DEMRE) of the University of Chile, Sergio Carumán, announced details of the innovations that the University Selection Tests (PSU) will have, as well as the weightings that each university assigned to its careers.
Regarding the innovations, they noted that this year the penalty for incorrect answers has been eliminated and pilot questions have been added to the Mathematics test. Furthermore, during the week of June 23, practice tests for each exam will be published, based on the new syllabi adapted to the Curriculum Adjustment, which were announced in May.
Weightings
Regarding the weightings, it should be noted that of the 1,385 programs offered last year and also to be offered in 2015, 88.71% (TP3T) maintain the same weightings (PSU Battery – NEM-Ranking). 89.31% (TP3T) maintain the same weighting for the Grade Ranking. Of those that change, 132 increase their Ranking weighting and 15 decrease it.
On average, the universities that have seen the greatest increase in their ranking weight are the University of Valparaíso (11.1%), the Metropolitan Technological University (10.7%), and the Catholic University of the North (5%). Meanwhile, the University of Magallanes has experienced an average decrease in its ranking weight of 4.2%.
Thus, a total of 302 races set their Ranking weighting at 40%, 81 races at 30%, 136 races at 25%, 473 races at 20%, 108 races at 15%, and 291 races at 10%. In total, this year the system will offer 1,391 races.
2015 Admission Process Calendar
Regarding the schedule, it's important to remember that the PSU exams will be administered on December 1st and 2nd, and the results will be released on Sunday, December 21st at 8:00 a.m. The application period begins at 9:00 a.m. that same day and will run until Wednesday, December 24th at 1:00 p.m.
The results of the applications will be announced on Sunday, January 4th at 11:00 PM and the registration period will run from Monday, January 5th to Wednesday, January 7th, 2015.
