The institutions will have special vacancies for the best students graduating from educational establishments with a high vulnerability index.
Five universities belonging to the Council of Rectors (CRUCH) were invited to participate in the Program for Accompaniment and Effective Access to Higher Education (PACE), whose purpose is to provide support to top-performing students from their high schools. These students will be guaranteed a place at participating universities in the programs of study of their choice.
The participating universities are the University of Antofagasta, the Catholic University of the North in Coquimbo, the Federico Santa María Technical University Santiago campus and the Catholic University of Temuco.
In its first phase, beginning this second semester, the measure will benefit 7,583 students from 67 educational establishments (61 municipal and 6 subsidized private) throughout Chile, which meet the following requirements: participation in UNESCO preparatory programs, a School Vulnerability Index (IVE) equal to or greater than 60%, participation in the Preferential School Subsidy (SEP) program, and a legal structure that does not allow them to operate for profit. The goal is for all the most vulnerable schools in the country to participate in the program by 2017.
