The Council of Rectors participated in the international conference Going Global 2014 organized by British Council and focused on the internationalization of higher education.
With the aim of strengthening collaborative networks and promoting the internationalization of the universities of the Council of Rectors and thanks to the invitation extended by the British Council, CRUCH had the opportunity to participate in Going Global, a world-class event.
Going Global It is an annual conference organized by the British Council Alternating between locations in the United Kingdom and major cities around the world, the event offers an international platform for networking and exchange, enabling global leaders in education to discuss the realities, challenges, and future of continuing and higher education. Since 2004, it has become a key event on the global education calendar.
The 2014 conference focused on the themes of inclusion, innovation, and impact. Held for the first time in the Americas, the event took place in Miami from April 29 to May 1. More than 1,000 education leaders from over 70 countries attended. Among the attendees were 125 university presidents, vice presidents, vice chancellors, and government ministers. Representatives from universities in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas were also prominent.
The sessions included panel discussions, multiple presentation sessions, and poster presentations. The program spanned three days., Going Global The 2014 conference addressed topics such as innovation systems: their formation, structure, and management at the global and transnational levels; the development of talent behind innovation; and the challenge of providing sufficient high-quality higher education to guarantee inclusion and participation. It also analyzed the impact of internationalized higher and tertiary education on innovation and inclusion and how this impact translates into outcomes of interest to education policymakers, politicians, stakeholders in tertiary education, and higher education institutions in general.
