The UNESCO Preparatory Network and associated universities conveyed their support to the executive vice president of CRUCH for the implementation of the Grade Ranking in the 2014 Admission Process, noting that it is a variable that contributes to the inclusion of talented young people in higher education.
A group of 17 universities plus the Equitas Foundation, which make up the UNESCO Preparatory and Associated Universities network, gave their support to the inclusion of the Grade Ranking in the Single University Admission System, administered by the Council of Rectors.
In a public statement, the group noted that this is "an important additional variable in the selection process for university admissions," adding that they value "any other initiative that rescues the opportunity to include talented young people from vulnerable sectors in higher education.".
This statement was delivered in writing to the executive vice president of CRUCH, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, at a meeting attended by the rector of the Catholic University Silva Henríquez, Jorge Baeza, and representatives of various preparatory programs and secondary schools.
Rector Zolezzi stated at the meeting that “we hope that (the Ranking of Grades) will demonstrate that there is a possibility of entering the university for those who have never had it before; I am sure that they will not disappoint anyone and that they will be very good students.”.
