At the monthly meeting of the Council of Rectors, held in Talca, representatives from the 25 universities of the CRUCH (Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities) analyzed the student protests. They also received a visit from the new Head of the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, Alberto Vásquez.

The Council of Rectors met at the Catholic University of Maule in Talca for its monthly meeting. The meeting, which was also attended by Alberto Vásquez, head of the Higher Education Division (DIVESUP) of the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), addressed collaborative work with the Ministry, a proposed initiative, and the current state of student protests.

At the end of the meeting, the executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, expressed the institution's opinion regarding the mobilizations.

“The Council is extremely concerned about what is happening. We believe that violence begets more violence. We think that preventing academics, students, and staff from accessing their places of study and work is counterproductive, and therefore we reject the occupations, strikes, and violence from every perspective,” the university official stated.
