Doctors Linda Amrane-Cooper and Andrew Read were welcomed by academics from the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), led by Rector Diego Durán of the Catholic University of Maule. During the meeting, they shared strategies for addressing the challenges facing the initial teacher training system.
The authorities of East London University – Dr. Linda Amrane-Cooper and Dr. Andrew Read – visited the Council of Rectors, meeting with the rector of the Catholic University of Maule, Dr. Diego Durán, with academics from the universities of Playa Ancha and Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and with the Executive Director of CRUCH, María Teresa Marshall.
The objective of this meeting was to present the guidelines of the School of Education and Community at that British university, specifically its research programs, partnerships with schools, and internationalization processes, among others. The Council of Rectors group was interested in sharing the current challenges facing the system in initial teacher training and the importance of establishing international collaborative relationships.
The similarity of challenges and opportunities led to the conclusion that it is important to maintain close communication, which will allow us to address especially the development of associated research projects and the promotion of the internationalization of postgraduate studies in education at the universities of the Council of Rectors.
