The working group of the Council of Rectors, headed by Rector Víctor Cubillos, held a meeting with diplomat Marc Giacomini, with a view to promoting the mobility of undergraduate students, both Chilean and French, in the areas of engineering and agronomy.

On Thursday, June 14, a meeting took place at the offices of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) between the French ambassador, Marc Giacomini, and the CRUCH International Relations Committee, chaired by the rector of the Austral University, Víctor Cubillos.

At the meeting, it was decided to establish a working group between representatives of international relations from CRUCh and a representative from the Embassy to seek alternative funding options to promote the mobility of undergraduate students, both Chilean and French, in the areas of engineering and agronomy.

The French ambassador said that academic exchanges are key to his action plan. “We need to find new momentum, and from this perspective, exchanges between students, academics, and researchers are a very important element. We will do everything in our power to develop these kinds of ties,” the diplomat stated.

For her part, María Teresa Marshall, executive director of CRUCH, expressed the intention to explore all possible avenues to benefit Chilean students. “We don’t need more signed agreements; we must coordinate and actively promote mobility opportunities for our students.”.
