The executive vice president of CRUCH, Rector Víctor Pérez, expressed hope in continuing to advance initiatives that improve the quality of the education system.
In order to delve deeper into the topics announced by the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, representatives of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) met with the head of the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), Joaquín Lavín, in a meeting that lasted for more than three hours.
“We are going to resume the dialogue to continue exploring the issues where we need to make further progress,” stated Rector Víctor Pérez, Executive Vice President of the Council. To this end, working groups will be formed to refine aspects of the proposal.
In this proposal, the proposals made by CRUCH were accepted, which are especially relevant, such as the reduction of interest rates on State-Guaranteed Loans; the adoption of the lobby law and its ratification so that traditional universities can have basic resources to ensure their stability.
Likewise, one of the most important points is the creation of the Superintendency of Higher Education "which will provide a guarantee and public assurance of transparency and compliance with the Law," emphasized Rector Pérez.
