Representatives from the universities of the Council of Rectors traveled to Finland last April to learn more about its higher education system and establish cooperative ties with its universities.
The Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) and the Council of Rectors of Finnish Universities (UNIFI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will lay the foundations for collaboration and cooperation in joint postgraduate programs, and the exchange of information and experiences in research, innovation and technology transfer, among others.
It is worth mentioning that Finland stands out for the excellent quality of its universities and for the good results they have obtained in international educational assessments such as the PISA test.
The meeting and exchange of information with the rectors of various Finnish universities and the possibility of visiting the university campuses on site was an excellent opportunity for the Chilean delegation to learn about the reform of the higher education system, the teacher training strategies and the scientific development in the mining and forestry field.
As a result of this trip to Finland, the University of Playa Ancha has already taken concrete steps and now has a formal agreement with the University of Jyväskylä to collaborate on research. With the support of researchers from Finland, they are creating a Center for Advanced Studies focused primarily on education and development, specifically on aspects related to educational leadership, inclusivity, and the relationship between education and work.
