goals

To stimulate high-level reflection on Latin American reality from an interdisciplinary perspective, focusing on the study of culture, history, thought, and literature from the perspective of the humanities; providing skills for the systematic and creative investigation of complex issues and a flexible handling of different theoretical-methodological approaches formulated within the framework of cultural studies on Latin America, or in dialogue with them.

Applicant Profile

Possess an academic degree or a professional title, of at least 8 (eight) semesters in duration, granted by Chilean or foreign universities, a title that is considered equivalent to the degree of Bachelor at the University of Chile as determined by the Academic Committee.
Demonstrate your competence in reading texts originally written in other languages, as established by the Graduate School.

Graduate profile

Graduates will be specialists and researchers prepared to perform in university academic activities and in a position to successfully continue higher studies (doctorate and postdoctorate).
They will be able to pose research problems relevant to the field of Latin American studies, to reflect critically on these and to formulate interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological frameworks that allow them to resolve their questions about the history and culture of the region.
