goals
a) To offer students in the program opportunities for epistemological in-depth study of and about the discipline, based on the foundations of mathematics and statistics in the school curriculum
b) To introduce students in the program to current perspectives in mathematics education, considering theoretical and methodological frameworks aimed at improving pedagogical practices and professional development in educational institutions
c) Develop methodological strategies specific to mathematics didactics, orienting them towards the design, management and evaluation of innovative proposals for teaching and learning mathematics that promote the achievement of meaningful learning and the development of mathematical thinking skills
d) To promote the development of research and leadership skills in various institutions of the educational system, enabling students in the program to identify problems in mathematics education and develop projects aimed at finding well-founded, innovative and effective solutions that respond to the characteristics of the educational contexts in which they work.
Applicant Profile
Aimed at those who hold a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, mathematics education or a related degree as determined by the Master's program committee in mathematics education.
Graduate profile
Graduates of the Master's Program in Mathematics Education at USACH will be able to:
To carry out didactic analyses of mathematics teaching and learning processes that take as a reference the historical origins and epistemological obstacles of the construction of the discipline, linking them with the needs of the school level in which the teaching takes place, the main learning difficulties and characteristics of the students.
Design and evaluate methodological and didactic proposals for strengthening the teaching, learning and development of mathematical thinking skills, based on updated perspectives of the discipline's didactics, which consider the incorporation of varied learning resources.
Develop innovation and research projects to understand and solve problems related to the teaching and learning processes of mathematics in different educational institutions, considering the development of the perspectives of the Didactics of Mathematics.
Generate and lead induction, guidance, support and coordination processes for teams of mathematics teachers in educational centers, for the improvement of processes, results and impacts on teacher professional development.
