To train graduates of the highest academic level, capable of contributing, at levels of excellence, to the training of new specialists and teachers in this field of studies and of independently carrying out original research, the results of which translate into significant contributions to the development of this field of knowledge.

Applicant Profile

1.- Possess a degree equivalent to or higher than the Bachelor's degree conferred by the University of Chile in Literature or in any discipline of the humanities.
2.- Demonstrate proficiency in a second language.

Graduate profile

Graduates of the Doctoral Program in Literature with a specialization in Chilean and Latin American Literature are highly skilled specialists in their field of study. They possess the ability to propose and develop independent and original research projects that contribute to strengthening the field of Chilean and Latin American literature studies; present and disseminate their research findings at conferences; present and disseminate their research findings through the publication of articles and books; reflect on and participate in debates surrounding the most relevant issues within the discipline; contribute to interdisciplinary dialogue with other areas of the Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; and provide excellent teaching in university-level literary studies programs.
