I believe that sharing practices, sharing solutions, helps us a great deal (\u2026) We must commit to opening up the discussion, not just talking about the problems, but also to prevention, providing extensive education, and, of course, focusing clinical care on those who need it most. So thank you for what you are doing,\u201d said Rector S\u00e1nchez.<\/p>\n<p>For her part, Rector Dev\u00e9s highlighted the collaborative work between institutions and emphasized that \u201cthe issue of mental health actually affects everyone, the entire community, not just students, but the whole university community in general. We have to understand as a community that we all have to take care of each other.\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Valentina Bahamondes, Director of Student Affairs at the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences (UMCE), who attended on behalf of Rector Elisa Araya, shared her institution&#039;s experience. Given the complexity and vulnerability of its students and its limited resources, the university addressed mental health issues from a community perspective. \u201cTeachers are trained not only to teach subjects but also to build communities. That gave us the key to knowing we were on the right track,\u201d Bahamondes commented.<\/p>\n<p>This first in-person plenary session, which follows the virtual plenary sessions held in January and August of this year and the regular meetings of the Subcommittee on Coexistence and the Subcommittee on Mental Health, took place on October 23 at the Metropolitan Technological University (UTEM). and the holding of a call for proposals (<a href=\"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2023\/08\/17\/comision-cruch-de-convivencia-universitaria-y-salud-mental-abre-convocatoria-de-buenas-practicas-dirigida-a-estudiantes\/\">See note<\/a>), and a subsequent seminar on \u201cGood Student Practices for the Promotion and Prevention of Mental Health and Coexistence in the CRUCH University Community\u201d, an event in which 15 initiatives from groups of students and graduates from CRUCH universities were presented (<a href=\"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2023\/10\/05\/estudiantes-y-egresados-as-de-universidades-del-cruch-presentaron-iniciativas-en-salud-mental-y-convivencia\/\">See note<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>By 2024, the planning includes the subdivision into three working groups: design of public policy proposals on university coexistence and mental health for Chilean universities; reflection and dissemination activities; and materials and publications.<\/p>\n<p>The first group, composed of Valeska Grau (UC), Pamela D\u00edaz-Romero (UChile), Cecilia P\u00e9rez (UdeC), Ver\u00f3nica Aravena (UMAG), Elena Cuadro (UDP) and Marcela Abarz\u00faa (UTEM), will be dedicated to preparing the public policy guidelines document, whose process hopes to invite a national debate around principles, strategic objectives, critical issues and recommendations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8276 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-1024x684.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-320x214.jpg 320w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-480x321.jpg 480w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-800x535.jpg 800w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-848x567.jpg 848w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-1140x762.jpg 1140w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133-1170x782.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DSC_0133.jpg 1197w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>On the other hand, the reflection and dissemination activities group, composed of Rosa Mar\u00eda Olave (UAH), Patricia Astroza (ULS), Bertha Escobar (UCT), Daphne Sandoval (ULagos), and Valentina Bahamondes (UMCE), will hold a Summer School during January to promote leadership development in university life and mental health across the various sectors of the CRUCH universities.
