In the last two years, twenty CRUCH study centers have renewed or ratified their leadership.<\/p>\n

The elections of Juan Yuz Eissman at the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University and Luperfina Rojas Escobar at the University of La Serena, which took place during September, were the last of this cycle.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The years 2021 and 2022 have been marked by election processes in twenty of the 30 institutions that make up the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH).<\/p>\n

On Monday, September 12, the University of La Serena elected the dean of the Faculty of Social, Business and Legal Sciences as its rector., Luperfina Rojas Escobar<\/strong>. Meanwhile, on Thursday, September 15, the Higher Council ratified the academic's victory. Juan Yuz Eissman<\/strong> in the runoff election for rector of the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University. Also, on September 15, the academic and former Academic Vice-Rector of the University of Atacama Forl\u00edn Aguilera Olivares<\/strong>\u00a0He assumed the rectorship of the institution after winning the July elections.<\/p>\n

During 2022, thirteen universities belonging to the CRUCH held elections. In April, they were re-elected to their positions. Emilio Rodr\u00edguez Ponce<\/strong>, rector of the University of Tarapac\u00e1 and current executive vice president of the Council, and Carlos Saavedra Rubilar<\/strong>, rector of the University of Concepci\u00f3n and president of the G-9 Network.<\/p>\n

In that same month, the academic and former Vice-Rector of Economics and Administration Carlos Torres Fuchslocher<\/strong>\u00a0He won the rectorship of the University of Talca in the second round, a position he assumed in May.<\/p>\n

Also in May, the academic and former Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs at the University of Chile, Rosa Dev\u00e9s Alessandri<\/strong>, She made history by becoming the first female rector of the institution in its nearly 180 years, after winning the position in the first round and assuming it in June. During the same month, Marcos Cikutovic Salas<\/strong>, former dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, won the runoff election for the rectorship of the University of Antofagasta, assuming this responsibility in August.<\/p>\n

Appointments at Catholic universities<\/h4>\n

In 2022 there were also changes in the rectorship of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valpara\u00edso. In June, the Congregation for Catholic Education of the Holy See confirmed the Nihil Obstat<\/em> for the appointment as rector of Nelson V\u00e1squez Lara<\/strong>, an academic at the Institute of History of the PUCV, who assumed the rectorship in July.<\/p>\n

2021 Elections<\/h4>\n

During 2021, five CRUCH universities renewed their leadership.
