research, development and application of the different disciplines of plant biology and biotechnology that primarily promote the improvement of silvo-agricultural production within a sustainable context through the integration of advanced knowledge in disciplines of the biology of plant organisms and the interactions of plants with their abiotic environment and other associated organisms.<br \/>\nSpecific objectives:<br \/>\n\u2013 To generate capabilities to integrate up-to-date knowledge, at the highest level, of the basic sciences of plant organisms and their interaction with their environment, as well as the biotechnological methodologies that allow their study.<br \/>\n\u2013 To develop critical thinking and scientific reasoning in the field of plant biology and\/or biotechnology.<br \/>\n\u2013 Develop capacities for the formulation of research projects mainly related to problems of forestry and agricultural production within a sustainable context.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"postulante\">\n<h6>Applicant Profile<\/h6>\n<p>The PhD in Sciences with a specialization in Plant Biology and Biotechnology is aimed at graduates or professionals in any of the following areas of knowledge: biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics, agricultural sciences, forestry sciences, biological or biomedical sciences, who demonstrate an interest in developing research in the area of plant biology and biotechnology<br \/>\nIn addition, applicants must demonstrate academic excellence during their undergraduate or Master&#039;s studies and take an admission exam where they must demonstrate knowledge in areas related to the program and the ability to understand scientific articles in English associated with the area of plant biology and biotechnology.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"postulante\">\n<h6>Graduate profile<\/h6>\n<p>Graduates of the Doctorate in Sciences with a specialization in Plant Biology and Biotechnology will have the following competencies:<br \/>\na) Integrate morphological, physiological, biochemical and genetic-molecular aspects associated with the structural and functional organization of plants and their interaction with other organisms and their environment to propose innovative solutions to problems in plant biology through biotechnological tools.<br \/>\nb) Design strategies and implement research projects in those areas of plant biology whose projection mainly contributes to the generation of biotechnological bases for sustainable silvo-agricultural production.<br \/>\nc) Communicate effectively, in written and oral form, the results, projections and implications of their research in order to transfer knowledge to their peers and the national and international academic community.<br \/>\nd) Demonstrate ethical behavior in their scientific work and compliance with current biosafety standards in order to ensure the integrity and scientific value of their research.<br \/>\ne) Integrate multidisciplinary research teams associated with national or international institutions that contribute to the scientific and technological advancement of plant
