Be in possession of the Bachelor&#039;s or Master&#039;s Degree, in the different disciplines linked to the program.<br \/>\n2. Submit, within the stipulated deadlines, an application for admission according to the standard form, together with the following documents:<br \/>\na) Certificate that accredits Master&#039;s Degree and \/ or Bachelor&#039;s Degree.<br \/>\nb) Academic-professional curriculum.<br \/>\nc) Concentration of undergraduate and master&#039;s grades, as appropriate.<br \/>\nd) Personal letter supporting the motivations and intentions of your application.<br \/>\ne) Letters of recommendation from two academics of the Program (Faculty, Collaborators and Visitors) or recognized in the field of communication.<br \/>\nf) Submit a Doctoral Research Proposal (based on the Initiation Fondecyt form).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"postulante\">\n<h6>Graduate profile<\/h6>\n<p>The Doctor or Doctor in Communication trained at the Universities of La Frontera and the Austral University of Chile is a postgraduate with capacities to perform in (1) autonomous research in the field of communication, and (2) the dissemination of knowledge of the area to academic audiences. His training is from a critical perspective of the cultural industry and its mediations, through interdisciplinary approaches, theories and analysis to develop studies on communication processes.<br \/>\nYour training enables you to:<br \/>\n1.1 Identify new problems in intercultural contexts, known and emerging, with different theoretical-methodological techniques;<br \/>\n1.2 Develop research in the field of communication, with theoretical-methodological tools from an interdisciplinary perspective to contribute to the understanding of the problems associated with the different intercultural contexts;<br \/>\n2.1 Prepare scientific articles for publication in indexed journals in the area, based on theoretical discussion, preliminary analysis of different corpus and results of own research, and<br \/>\n2.2 Produce scientific texts for the presentation of research results to academic audiences. Has the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences and analyze problems from critical thinking.<br \/>\nThe Postgraduate Doctor or Doctor in Communication from the Universities of La Frontera and the Austral University of Chile may work in research centers and institutes, higher education institutions, public or private.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"investigacion\">\n<h6>Lines of investigation<\/h6>\n<p>Line 1. Communication and Media. This line will aim to study, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the tensions, relationships and intersections between communications, their theories and the media and their mediations. In this area, the work can be developed either from the classic spaces of interpersonal or group mediations, as well as through devices and tools typical of the stories of the media (press, radio, TV), as well as , the concentration on the analysis of media products from contemporary remote, virtual and digitized devices.<br \/>\nLine 2. Communication in Inter, Multi and Cross Cultural Contexts; This line focuses on the phenomena, processes and problems of communication that occur in specific contexts of relationships between different cultures; considering the tensions and disputes expressed in the demands for a new social treatment, where, for example, the conceptions of gender, sexual dissidence, ethnicities, migrations, and diversities in general, are at the center of the debate. In this area the studies of linguistics, sociology, literature and education, among others, are registered, as long as these contexts are present.<br \/>\nLine 3. Communication and Culture: This line focuses on the study of communication as an instance of updating culture in the articulation of social life. Its object of study are symbolic and communicative mediations, understanding by this the different modes of intervention of signs and processes of production and social reproduction of meaning in the configuration of human sociability. This includes the study of primary and secondary modeling systems, symbolically mediated expressive, cognitive, social and instrumental practices, and the resulting textual, material and institutional systems products, in different contexts and historical moments. Here we understand communication as a basic constituent instance of the phenomenology of the social through which the models of the common order are proposed, reproduced and disputed. Its modes of production, forms of articulation and consequences for social life are our object of study.<br \/>\nLine 4. Communication, Science and Technologies: This line has as a fundamental objective the construction of knowledge around study objects that are oriented towards communication and scientific dissemination, the implications of technological changes in communication processes and the science of data applied to the understanding of informational and communicative ecosystems.
