Executive Vice President of CRUCH and rector of the University of Valpara\u00edso referred to an eventual ruling of the Constitutional Court that allows access to free admission to universities controlled by commercial companies.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The possibility that the Constitutional Court will eliminate article 63 of the future higher education law, allowing universities that have commercial for-profit companies as controllers, has generated concern, for this reason this morning the Executive Vice President of the Council of Rectors of the Chilean Universities and rector of the University of Valpara\u00edso, Aldo Valle, referred to the subject.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to evaluate, as the Council of Rectors, certainly, whatever content the law that reforms higher education finally has. Particularly in the case of profit, in the CRUCH we have been very convergent, in the sense that it is not edifying for the cultural system of the country that profit intervenes with regard to education. There are many other activities in which profit legitimately has a space, which is recognized and valid, but in education we believe that it is not convenient for institutions to have profit purposes, and, for the rest, the law has always said it. It is not something that is being introduced now, it has been legislation in force in Chile since 1981, \u201dsaid Aldo Valle.<\/p>\n

In this scenario, if there is a failure that is announced or has been explored, it is a setback, \u201cbecause in we have achieved a peaceful climate of harmony and this conflict was closing with the Reform. For this reason, we hope that it will remain closed and will not be opened due to a decision that ultimately represents a rejection of a very broad social demand. We do not want cases like the one at the Universidad del Mar, the Universidad Arcis, the Universidad Iberoamericana, and unfortunately, if the profit is legitimized, we will expose ourselves to situations like these tomorrow, "added the CRUCH authority.<\/p>\n
