{"id":2263,"date":"2020-07-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-02-04T19:44:51","modified_gmt":"2022-02-04T19:44:51","slug":"60893586809ab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2020\/07\/30\/60893586809ab\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrow 2019 results of the student engagement survey applied in ten CRUCH universities will be released"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote style=\"text-align: left;\"><p>The results of the National Survey of Student Engagement, ENCE, correspond to the application of the 2019 survey, which was answered by 9,894 students from various careers from the participating universities.<\/p>\n<p>The information collected by the survey allows characterizing the student experience, which enables universities to receive valuable information to improve their training practices and to optimize the use of their learning resources.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the context of the collaborative work being carried out by ten universities of the Council of Rectors, the results of the third application of the National Survey of Student Engagement (ENCE) will be released this Friday, July 31, through the virtual seminar \u201cStudent Experience in Diverse Educational Contexts,\u201d which will be broadcast between 10:00 and 12:00 hours on this <a href=\"https:\/\/app.pregrado.uchile.cl\/experiencia2020\/\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The results correspond to the application of the 2019 survey, whose sample contains responses from 9,894 students from various careers from the participating universities, 6,250 of which correspond to the 2019 cohort and 3,644 to the 2016 cohort.<\/p>\n<p>Although ENCE was applied before October 18, 2019, the results obtained suggest that there are some important differences with respect to the information collected in previous years. For more detailed information, you can consult the Selective Results Report 2019, which is available on the same website.<\/p>\n<p>As stated by Gonzalo Zapata, the director of the ENCE Project and academic of the Universidad de Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile, the information collected by the survey allows characterizing the student experience. \u201cThis allows universities to receive valuable information to improve their training practices and to optimize the use of their learning resources. In addition, they can contrast the results obtained by their students with those observed, at an aggregate level, in the other universities, \u201dZapata explained.<\/p>\n<p>In its 2019 version, ENCE included 105 questions, which are organized in 8 dimensions: Higher Order Learning, Student-Teacher Interaction, Effective Teaching Practices, Learning Strategies, Quality of Interactions, Interactions in a Diversity Framework, Institutional Support, and Academic Effort (the latter at the pilot level). Likewise, the instrument collected perceptions of the students regarding the time dedication, their workload, the achievement of competences, prospects for graduation and expectations about the university experience. It also collected information to detect the presence of high-impact practices that, according to specialized literature, strongly affects the educational experience of students. All this information is then linked to the characterization data of the students and their academic results.<\/p>\n<p>The institutions currently participating in the ENCE project are the University of Chile, the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile, the Universidad de la Frontera, the Universidad de Valpara\u00edso, the Universidad de Talca, the Universidad de Playa Ancha de Ciencias de la Educaci\u00f3n, the Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Temuco, the Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de la Sant\u00edsima Concepci\u00f3n, the Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica Metropolitana and the Universidad de Ays\u00e9n.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">About ENCE<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">ENCE is inspired by the <em>National Survey for Student Engagement (NSSE)<\/em>, Developed by the Indiana University Center for Higher Education Research, ENCE has been used and adapted to the realities of various countries. Since its first application in Chile in 2017, ENCE has undergone numerous adjustments to better reflect the educational experience of Chilean university students.<\/p>\n<p>Student commitment (<em>student engagement<\/em>This refers to the state and readiness of students to approach their studies and achieve learning. It assumes that learning requires a significant investment of time and effort from students.
