{"id":2256,"date":"2020-10-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2021-12-07T19:31:09","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T19:31:09","slug":"60893586804fb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2020\/10\/14\/60893586804fb\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch Nansen Manual Dialogue and Conflict Transformation: Listen to Transform"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote style=\"text-align: left;\"><p>The executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, pointed out that \u201cthe main motivation of CRUCH for sponsoring the manual is to promote dialogue related to generating the conditions for civic trust and peace in social coexistence, in order to achieve a more just and inclusive democracy \u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The manual is available for free download on the website of the Council of Rectors (Publications).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Nansen Manual for Dialogue and Conflict Transformation Facilitators is the result of the peace education work that the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue has developed since its inception in 1994 in more than 10 countries.<\/p>\n<p>In the current context of our country, this manual aims to be a tool for building trust, improving relationships in conflict situations, and contributing to a more open and conciliatory society. It is available for free download on the CRUCH website (Publications section). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consejoderectores.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Manual-Nansen-esp-29julio2021-Version-2021.pdf\">this link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe manual is published at a time when Chile is experiencing significant levels of conflict and tension, where once again, as happened at the beginning of the transition, our vocation for understanding is being put to the test. Tools like this will undoubtedly help advance processes that allow for the construction of fair and lasting agreements \u201d, commented the rector of the UAH, Eduardo Silva SJ.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Social coexistence and dialogue<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, pointed out that \u201cthe main motivation of CRUCH for sponsoring the manual is to promote dialogue related to generating the conditions for civic trust and peace in social coexistence, in order to achieve a more just and inclusive democracy \u201d. He added that the manual &quot;will be a valuable contribution to the university communities of the 30 institutions of the Council of Rectors and also, we hope that it will be a contribution to various instances of civil society throughout the country.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;In many places there is confusion about what dialogue is and we think that this manual can be useful for the challenges of Chile today,&quot; said Alfredo Zamudio, director of the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue. &quot;Dialogue is a form of communication that offers time and space for people to show the complexity of their respective concerns, and it requires time, courage and a lot of will.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Zamudio added that \u201cdialogue is not about accepting the unacceptable, or justifying crimes, or forgetting, but rather understanding the other&#039;s point of view and also telling them everything you have to say.
