Strategic objectives, dialogue with university presidents, coordination with postgraduate studies, the 2016 Budget Law, and technology transfer are some of the topics that prompted debate and exchange among university authorities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With the participation of the rector of the Catholic University of the North (UCN), Jorge Tabilo, the working day of the vice-rectors of research of the Council of Rectors began, who pointed out the importance of the debate that the vice-rectors of research are developing, which will have an impact on the strengthening of science, technology and innovation in the universities of the CRUCH.<\/p>\n

Designing a strategic plan for the Commission to guide its work has been a key focus this year. The connection between this group's work and a mandate from the CRUCH (Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities) is once again emphasized, highlighting the importance of establishing a forum for discussion with the CRUCH plenary on this matter. It is also acknowledged that, as the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Innovation (VRI), there is a responsibility to engage with universities, starting with an analysis of research policies and intellectual property, thus fostering mutual enrichment. Secondly, this involves a focus on national issues related to science, technology, and innovation.<\/p>\n

The Commission has defined some strategic objectives, such as maintaining a permanent dialogue with authorities of the country's science and technology system; contributing to the Higher Education Law in terms of research; and promoting the exchange and debate on research policies in the CRUCH universities.<\/p>\n

A short-term agenda is established (2015):<\/p>\n

I. To develop the 4th VRI Meeting 2015, on Friday, December 11 at PUCV to address the following question: In the context of the Reform, what are the Alternatives for Science, Technology and Innovation Policies?<\/p>\n

Develop an exchange between universities on the research policies of each institution.<\/p>\n

II. Advance the analysis of the "SCIENCE FOR DEVELOPMENT" REPORT, especially regarding institutional frameworks and strategies for strengthening science and technology.<\/p>\n

III. To present to the CRUCH Executive Committee an analysis of the 2016 Science and Technology Budget Law.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
