The working session, convened by the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, was attended by rectors and representatives of the twenty-five universities of the Council of Rectors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the context of the development of a National Qualification Framework for Higher Education promoted by the Ministry of Education (Mineduc), a working session was held with the participation of rectors and other authorities from the twenty-five universities of the Council of Rectors.<\/p>\n

Present at the event were the rectors Sergio Lavanchy (University of Concepci\u00f3n), Oscar Galindo (Austral University of Chile), Jorge Tabilo (Catholic University of the North), H\u00e9ctor Gaete (University of B\u00edo-B\u00edo), Sergio Bravo (University of La Frontera), Arturo Flores (University of Tarapac\u00e1), Gustavo Soto (Arturo Prat University), Jaime Espinosa (Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences), Luis Pinto (Metropolitan Technological University), Diego Dur\u00e1n (Catholic University of Maule), Aliro B\u00f3rquez (Catholic University of Temuco), and the acting rector Hern\u00e1n Sagua (University of Antofagasta). Also in attendance were academic vice-rectors, postgraduate directors, academic and teaching directors, and other university representatives.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, Fernanda Kri, head of the Institutional Financing Department of the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, presented a proposal for the National Qualification Framework, which was analyzed by the participants.<\/p>\n

Regarding the timeline for developing a National Qualifications Framework, Kri noted that its design and implementation is a long-term undertaking. \u201cThis year, we will move forward with the design, which involves three stages: the first is defining the different levels and cycles of the qualifications framework and its certifications, which is what we are currently analyzing and will continue to do for some time. Next comes more specific work, which consists of defining the descriptors for each level of the framework and each certification. Finally, the third stage considers the design of the institutional framework and implementation mechanisms,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Once the design phase is complete, the implementation process will be defined, "which must consider a transition period to allow for the gradual adjustment of the entire range of careers and programs in the country," said Fernanda Kri.<\/p>\n

To further advance the development of the National Qualifications Framework, the Ministry of Education convened an extended working session for March 25 and 26, to which representatives from the entire higher education system, the Ministry of Labor, CORFO, Professional Institutes, Technical Training Centers, among other organizations, were invited.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
