The Council of Rectors participated in the international conference Services for International Education Marketing Conference 2014 (SIEM, <\/em>organized by British Council<\/em> focused on the internationalization of education.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Motivated by the desire to strengthen collaborative networks and promote the internationalization of the universities of the Council of Rectors, and thanks to the invitation extended by the British Council,<\/em> The Council of Rectors had the opportunity to participate in one of the largest international education marketing conferences.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place in the city of Brighton between December 10th and 11th. More than 550 delegates attended the conference. British Council<\/em> and 90 speakers, including representatives from UK universities and various education-related organizations. The event was attended by participants from fifty countries.<\/p>\n

The SIEM conference provides an international platform for sharing information about various countries of interest to the UK as educational providers in a global sense. As such, it represents an important forum for networking and exchange aimed at addressing the current challenges of international education in the UK.<\/p>\n

The sessions included panel discussions, presentations of research, perspectives, and ongoing experiences from around the world. The two-day SIEM 2014 program addressed diverse topics such as the mobility of international undergraduate and graduate students; the skills required for employability in both local and global contexts; and the perspectives and challenges facing international education today.<\/p>\n

Within the framework of the internationalization of higher education, Chile has sparked increasing interest in the United Kingdom in recent years. For this reason, the Council of Rectors (CRUCH) was invited to present an overview of the country in the field of higher education. CRUCH \u2013 represented by its Head of Research, Mariana Gonz\u00e1lez \u2013 participated in a panel with Latin American representatives from Colombia and Peru to present the country in general and the important role of CRUCH universities in this context. Current challenges in doctoral training in Chile were also discussed. The event provided an opportunity to connect with universities in the United Kingdom and explore potential future collaborations in this area with British partners.<\/p>\n

In general terms, the participation of the Council of Rectors constituted a valuable and highly interesting opportunity from the perspective of international education, and in particular it constitutes an initiative that complements the ongoing agenda promoted by CRUCH, whose objective is to establish collaborations between the Universities and their British counterparts in the field of joint research and doctoral training.<\/p>\n
