At the Isaura Dinator educational establishment in Santiago, authorities oversaw the start of a new University Selection Test.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With the presence of the executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, the rector of the University of Chile, Ennio Vivaldi and the Minister of Education, Nicol\u00e1s Eyzaguirre, the 2015 Admission Process was initiated at the Isaura Dinator municipal high school in Santiago.<\/p>\n

The authorities were accompanied by the Academic Vice-Rector of the University of Chile, Rosa Dev\u00e9s, the Executive Director of the Single Admission System, Ang\u00e9lica Bosch, and the Acting Director of DEMRE, Sergio Carum\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

About registrants<\/h4>\n

A total of 283,019 students are registered to take the University Selection Tests (PSU), nearly 12,000 more students than in the 2014 Admission Process (271,558).<\/p>\n

The regions with the highest number of registered participants are the Metropolitan Region (112,185), the Biob\u00edo Region (34,927), and the Valpara\u00edso Region (31,902). Meanwhile, the regions with the fewest registered participants are the Ays\u00e9n Region (1,875), the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region (2,771), and the Arica and Parinacota Region (4,004).<\/p>\n

Of the total, there are 27,000 young people who will take the PSU again and who will recover the score they obtained in the previous admission process (they will have two scores to be able to apply to universities), an option that they have had since 2013.<\/p>\n

Of all the young people taking the PSU, 197,263 belong to the science and humanities track and 83,247 are students from technical and vocational schools. The majority attend subsidized private schools (149,298), followed by students from municipal schools (103,535), and finally, students from private schools (27,677).<\/p>\n

The majority of students taking the PSU\u00ae this year are women (148,854), exceeding by 14,000 the number of men taking the exam.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, 13 people are 70 years old or older. The two oldest people taking the PSU are 78 years old, and the youngest people taking the test are 15 years old (three in total).<\/p>\n

Headquarters and locations for surrender<\/h4>\n

For the 2015 University Admissions Process, 578 testing centers and 63 prisons were set up across 170 locations nationwide. The centers with the highest number of registered students were Puente Alto (10,223), Maip\u00fa (9,862), Temuco (8,187), La Florida (7,799), and Concepci\u00f3n (7,001). Conversely, the centers with the fewest registered students were Juan Fern\u00e1ndez (7), Puerto Williams (20), Ayacara (22), Chait\u00e9n (23), and Cisnes (29).<\/p>\n

On the other hand, a total of 1,880 people currently in prison will take the exam. The largest number of registered candidates are from the prisons in Colina (363), Valpara\u00edso (247), Valdivia (117), and La Serena (103).<\/p>\n

The staff who will participate in the application of the PSU\u00ae are 22,189, including delegates, local managers, technical coordinators, IT staff, local coordinators, examiners and assistants.<\/p>\n
