{"id":1409,"date":"2014-09-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-09-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-17T20:21:40","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T20:21:40","slug":"603c6d807b873","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2014\/09\/23\/603c6d807b873\/","title":{"rendered":"CONICYT presents report on scientometric indicators and highlights progress of CRUCH universities"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>According to the data collected, the growth experienced by Chilean scientific production in Latin America is evident, which went from contributing 7.7% in 2003 to 8.5% in 2012, maintaining fourth place in the region.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the beginning of September, the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) presented the book \u201cMain scientometric indicators of Chilean scientific activity 2012. 2014 Report: A look at 10 years\u201d, prepared by the SCImago Research Group.<\/p>\n<p>The report highlighted the growth experienced by Chilean scientific output in Latin America, which increased from 7.71 TP3T in 2003 to 8.51 TP3T in 2012, maintaining its fourth-place ranking in the region. However, it lost ground in the global ranking of scientific productivity, falling from 41st to 46th place, due to the rapid growth of some emerging countries.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding university indicators, the publication states that between the two periods compared, the most significant changes were qualitative, particularly noticeable in the impact and overall and leading excellence indicators. It was also evident that some institutions shifted from a quantity-based strategy to one focused on quality.
