The practice tests for each of the exams can be downloaded from the website of the Single Admission System of the Council of Rectors and the Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement and Registration, DEMRE.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sample essays for each of the University Selection Tests (PSU) are available on the website of the Single Admission System of the Council of Rectors and the Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement and Registration (DEMRE) of the University of Chile.<\/p>\n

The models for the Language and Communication; Mathematics; History, Geography and Social Sciences; and Science tests incorporate the curricular adjustments of the 2009 Curriculum Update (MINEDUC), according to the syllabi published on the websites of the Single Admission System of the Council of Rectors and the DEMRE.<\/p>\n

Each facsimile contains instructions on how to answer the test, the 80 essay questions, the answer keys for each item, an explanation of how to calculate scores, and a score conversion reference table.<\/p>\n

Removal of discount for incorrect questions<\/h4>\n

As announced last year by the executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, starting with the PSU exams to be held on December 1 and 2 of this year, there will be no discount for incorrect answers.<\/p>\n

This means that only correct answers will be considered when calculating the corrected score, regardless of the number of incorrect answers. This measure allows students to approach the test without the pressure of having to decide whether or not to skip a question. In this way, the aim is to measure the applicant's level of knowledge and skills without the interference of other factors.<\/p>\n

This modification to the PSU is an agreement of the Council of Rectors that adopts one of the recommendations of the evaluation carried out in 2013 by the international consulting firm Pearson.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that this measure is consistent with the scoring mechanisms used by other standardized tests worldwide. In the United States, for example, the ACT does not consider a chance discount, and the SAT will eliminate it starting with the 2016 administration.<\/p>\n
