{"id":1300,"date":"2013-10-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-20T15:49:43","modified_gmt":"2022-01-20T15:49:43","slug":"603c6d8076998","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2013\/10\/18\/603c6d8076998\/","title":{"rendered":"CRUCH: \u201cWe will continue with our schedule of changes to the Admissions System\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>The rectors ratified their position to continue with the admission process as agreed in May of this year, when it was decided to establish a minimum of 10% for the Ranking of Grades and a minimum of 50% for the PSU was ratified.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Council of Rectors received in an extraordinary session the director of Liceo N\u00b01 Javiera Carrera, Julita Alvarado and the rectors of the Liceo de Aplicaci\u00f3n, Antonio Pacheco, the Instituto Nacional, Fernando P\u00e9rez and the Liceo Nacional de Maip\u00fa, Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez, to explain the scope of the Ranking of Grades and listen to their concerns about it.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting presented evidence on the effects of the Grade Ranking on admissions, and explained the steps taken by the Council of Rectors since this instrument was incorporated into the Single System of Admission to universities in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The executive vice president of CRUCH, Juan Manuel Zolezzi, stated that the Council reiterated its position on the Grade Ranking system at the meeting. \u201cAs we have always said, we regret that some students feel disadvantaged by this measure, which is intended to contribute to the selection of outstanding students and promote equity and inclusion with quality in university institutions.\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He added that \u201cwe spoke with the principals and explained that while some students may feel disadvantaged, overall even top-performing high schools benefit from the Grade Ranking.\u201d In this regard, data from the Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement, and Registration (DEMRE) at the University of Chile indicates that for the 2012 admissions cycle, without the Ranking, the Instituto Nacional enrolled 62.51% of its total students in universities affiliated with the system, while in 2013, with the inclusion of the Ranking, it enrolled 76.51%. The same positive phenomenon is observed in High School No. 1 (in 2012 it enrolled 45.8% of the total number of students enrolled in the promotion of that school and in 2013 it enrolled 59.3%) and in the Application High School (in 2012 it enrolled 32% and in 2013, 48%).<\/p>\n<p>The Council also heard presentations from the director of the Unified Admission System (SUA), Mar\u00eda Elena Gonz\u00e1lez, and the consultant on Equity and Inclusion, Francisco Javier Gil, who explained the evidence and results of the Grade Ranking. In his presentation, Gil showed that the highest scores on the University Selection Tests (PSU) from prestigious schools are also the ones who benefit most from the Ranking, as they are the top students in those schools.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the variation in the weight of High School Grades plus the Grade Ranking, the quote indicated that the average variation of NEM plus Ranking for the 33 universities attached to the system is less than 5%.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Los rectores ratificaron su postura de continuar con el proceso de admisi\u00f3n tal como se acord\u00f3 en mayo de este a\u00f1o, cuando se decidi\u00f3 establecer un m\u00ednimo de 10% para el Ranking de Notas y se ratific\u00f3 un m\u00ednimo de 50% para la PSU.
