At this meeting, the rector of the University of Los Lagos, \u00d3scar Garrido, was ratified as regional vice president of the Andean Countries.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Council of Rectors, represented by Rector Oscar Garrido and its Executive Director, Mar\u00eda Teresa Marshall, participated in the Annual Assembly of the OUI (Inter-American University Organization) held on October 15 in the city of Monterrey, Mexico.<\/p>\n

The OUI is an organization based on mutual collaboration between higher education institutions in the Americas, founded more than 30 years ago by Gilles Boulet, who declared at its inception: \u201cI wish to establish, beyond and free of all borders, whether political, geographical, economic, ideological or social, an inter-American university chain in a common effort to improve and strengthen each of its links.\u201d.<\/p>\n

At the Annual Assembly, the Executive Secretary of the IAU, Patricia Gudi\u00f1o, presented the results achieved through the implementation of the strategic plan, particularly in the areas of innovation for human capital development in higher education institutions, the promotion of shared spaces for university development, and the strengthening of internationalization, governance, and visibility. Through these strategies, the IAU is advancing the contribution of higher education to sustainable development and to a better understanding and integration of the peoples of the Americas.<\/p>\n

At this Assembly, the newly elected authorities were ratified, including the Regional Vice President of the Andean countries, Rector Oscar Garrido of the University of Los Lagos, who has highlighted the importance of \u201cgreater regional integration, that is, academic collaboration without borders,\u201d for which he has committed to positioning the OUI Andean Countries in the international arena through awareness, communication and coordination plans, designing and implementing regional cooperation strategies that contribute significantly to the joint training of highly qualified human capital from higher education institutions.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Yoloxochitl Bustamante Diez, rector of the National Polytechnic University of Mexico, assumed the presidency of the OUI. For the Council of Rectors, the role assumed by Rector Garrido represents both a challenge and a commitment to strengthening inter-university collaboration in the Andean region.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
