Representatives from the Council of Rectors and the Single Admission System explained the changes approved this year and reinforced their commitment to the continuous improvement of the system.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The executive vice president of the Council of Rectors (CRUCH), Juan Manuel Zolezzi, accompanied by the director of the Single Admission System (SUA), Mar\u00eda Elena Gonz\u00e1lez and the director of the Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement and Registration (DEMRE) of the University of Chile, Eduardo Rodr\u00edguez, explained the changes that have been approved by the CRUCH for the 2014 admission process.<\/p>\n

Among them is the agreement to establish a minimum of 10% for the weighting of the Grade Ranking and the new scale of Grades for Secondary Education, which will be calculated on the basis of two decimal places.<\/p>\n

Today, DEMRE published the weightings that each university independently determined for its degree programs. It's worth noting that every year on this date, institutions publish their final list of degree programs, available places, and the weightings they will assign to each selection instrument for admission to their programs of study.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe changes approved by the Council of Rectors are part of an ongoing process of improvement that has been under discussion for several years. They reflect the interest of the Council and its member universities in enhancing the selection process to provide opportunities for students who demonstrate the greatest aptitude for higher education. Given the positive results in terms of including high-achieving students from their schools, the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) decided in May that the minimum weighting for the Ranking would be 10%. Following this decision, each university, taking into account its own characteristics and autonomy, determined the weighting percentage it will require for each of its programs.\u201d.<\/p>\n

In this regard, Rector Zolezzi reiterated the CRUCH's commitment to improving the system. \u201cThe Ranking is another step towards perfecting our admissions system. In this case, it's about benefiting those high-achieving students who have the potential to succeed in higher education, regardless of their previous school. We've said it's about excellence, but with equity and inclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n

NEM scale<\/h4>\n

Another announcement made in the middle of this year is the calculation of high school grades to two decimal places. This will help provide students with a more accurate score, as this factor is calculated based on the student's total grades throughout their high school education.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
