Rector Rodr\u00edguez was honored in the field of Engineering and Earth Sciences.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">The rector of the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University, Dr. Jos\u00e9 Rodr\u00edguez, received the award <em>Scopus<\/em> 2013 along with seven other Chilean scientists working in different areas of knowledge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This award is given to scientists affiliated with Chilean institutions who have the highest number of publications across the more than 20,500 titles in the Scopus database. It is also awarded to those whose work has received the most citations in recent years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The award was presented in the presence of the president of the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT), Jos\u00e9 Miguel Aguilera, and executives from the publisher Elsevier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Rector Rodr\u00edguez was recognized for his work in the field of Engineering and Earth Sciences. Rodr\u00edguez is a Civil Electrical Engineer from the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University, where he earned his Master&#039;s degree and subsequently obtained his Doctorate in Engineering, specializing in electrical engineering, from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. He is currently the Rector of the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University. He has received four awards for best article of the year in journals (2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011) and two awards for best doctoral thesis from the Chilean Academy of Sciences (2011 and 2013).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The other award winners were: Mark Phillips, from the Las Campanas Observatory for Physics and Astronomy; Nibaldo Inestrosa, from the Pontifical Catholic University, awarded for Health Sciences; Michael Seeger Pfeiffer, from the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University (pictured with Rector Rodr\u00edguez), in Biology and Biotechnology; Diego Cosmelli, from the Pontifical Catholic University for his contribution in Social Sciences; Marcelo Arenas, from the Pontifical Catholic University for Computing; while Waldo Cerpa, from the Pontifical Catholic University and Sergio Torres, from the University of La Serena, received recognition in the area of young scientists.<\/p>\n<p><em>*Photography: Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University.<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El premio Scopus Elsevier se entreg\u00f3 a ocho cient\u00edficos chilenos tomando en cuenta la cantidad de publicaciones y el n\u00famero de citas que sus trabajos obtienen.
