{"id":1248,"date":"2013-05-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-21T17:27:50","modified_gmt":"2022-01-21T17:27:50","slug":"603c6d807443b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2013\/05\/23\/603c6d807443b\/","title":{"rendered":"Delegation of universities headed by the Bavarian Minister of Science meets with the Council of Rectors"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>During the visit, the rectors of the Bavarian universities expressed their interest in establishing cooperative ties and invited their Chilean counterparts to visit their institutions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The group, comprised of nine universities from the state of Bavaria and led by the Minister of Science, Research and the Arts, Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, met with members of the Council of Rectors, including the rectors V\u00edctor P\u00e9rez of the University of Chile, Ignacio S\u00e1nchez of the Catholic University, and Jos\u00e9 Rodr\u00edguez of the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University. Also participating were the Vice-Rector of the University of Los Lagos, Francisco Gangas, and the Vice-Rector of the University of Playa Ancha, Carmen Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez.<\/p>\n<p>This visit reflected the interest of Bavarian universities in forging cooperative ties with Chilean institutions. During the meeting, a delegation of Chilean university presidents was invited to visit Bavaria in the near future to further explore avenues for collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Bavaria is among Germany&#039;s most important states in scientific and economic terms, as a significant portion of the country&#039;s industry is located there. This facilitates connections between industry and university research, and Chile could learn from these university-business collaboration initiatives. For Bavaria, Chile represents a commercial platform for the region, which is why it has even opened a trade office in Santiago.<\/p>\n<p>Of the visiting rectors, seven lead universities of applied sciences and two lead research institutions.
