At the meeting, the guests praised the implementation of this tool and proposed ideas for strengthening it. The commission members shared the work that has been done in the working group on this matter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

With representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Confederation of Chilean Students (CONFECH) in attendance, the commission studying the strengthening of the grade ranking system within the Unified University Admission System resumed its work, aiming to propose ways to enhance the impact of this mechanism on the university admissions process. This follows the presentation of some preliminary proposals to the plenary session of the Council of Rectors held in Punta Arenas on April 25.<\/p>\n

In this way, the Council's commitment to opening the debate on the proposed changes to the Single Admission System is reaffirmed.<\/p>\n

Guillermo Marshall, the team coordinator, and team members Francisco Javier Gil, Eduardo Rodr\u00edguez, Jorge Hern\u00e1ndez, and Mariana Gonz\u00e1lez attended this session, which was held at the CRUCH facilities.<\/p>\n

As part of their work plan, for this session they received a visit from Andr\u00e9s Barrios, from the Ministry of Education and the representatives of CONFECH Victoria Moreau, president of the Federation of Students of the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda Technical University Santiago campus; Andres Coubl\u00e9, vice president of the Federation of the Catholic University and Leonardo Espinoza, president of the Federation of the Federico Santa Mar\u00eda University main campus.<\/p>\n

The guests shared their views on the implementation of the Ranking last year as well as their expectations regarding potential changes.<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9s Barrios stated that the ranking is a good tool, but that the Ministry of Education believes it requires adjustments. The students, meanwhile, valued it as a measure of equity and suggested it could be improved by increasing its weight in the university admissions process.<\/p>\n

The members of the committee appreciated the contributions received and noted that some issues are already being addressed within the Council of Rectors. For example, the students indicated that it was important to adjust the grading scale for high school diplomas, a measure that was approved by the full Council of Rectors on April 25.<\/p>\n
