{"id":1235,"date":"2013-03-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-03-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-21T18:40:46","modified_gmt":"2022-01-21T18:40:46","slug":"603c6d8073b61","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2013\/03\/21\/603c6d8073b61\/","title":{"rendered":"Rector of Dalhouise University meets with members of the Graduate Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>The president of Dalhousie University, Canada, Dr. Carolyn Watters, accompanied by Dr. Jorge Allende, Brent Herbert-Copley and Kevin Fitzgibbons, met with the Postgraduate Advisory Committee of the Council of Rectors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The visit by this academic delegation from Canada takes place within the framework of the sessions of the Science and Technology Implementation Committee between Chile and Canada, chaired by Dr. Jorge Allende and Herbert Copley. Kevin Fitzgibbons, Director of Innovation, Science and Technology at the Canadian Embassy, also participated in the visit.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting of the Council of Rectors analyzed the possibilities for expanding cooperation between institutions in both countries, especially regarding postgraduate training and the exchange of researchers. In this regard, Dr. Watters emphasized the need for academic collaboration to be institution-based rather than based on individual efforts. She explained that universities should be the driving force behind bilateral relations, research, and postgraduate student exchanges. Participants acknowledged the broad potential for collaboration, considering topics of mutual interest and the existing ties between the scientific communities.<\/p>\n<p>It was decided to move forward with the design of a program between universities of the Consortium of Canadian Universities (CALDO) and CRUCH regarding doctoral training in areas of common interest, which would allow the mobility of doctoral students, postdoctoral students and academics; it would be a program with a clear institutional character that would allow strengthening internationalization, exchange between universities and the achievement of new areas of development.<\/p>\n<p>Dalhousie University belongs to the consortium called CALDO, which brings together the universities of Alberta, Ottawa and Laval.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La rectora de la Universidad de Dalhousie, Canad\u00e1, Dra.
