{"id":1206,"date":"2012-11-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-26T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-23T17:09:02","modified_gmt":"2022-01-23T17:09:02","slug":"603c6d8072740","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2012\/11\/26\/603c6d8072740\/","title":{"rendered":"Experts analyze strategies and advances in curricular innovation, equity and inclusion in Higher Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>The meeting, organized by the University of La Serena, the Catholic University of the North and the Council of Rectors, CRUCH, brought together national and foreign speakers, such as Dr. James Wilkinson and Dr. George Kuh, from Harvard and Indiana universities, respectively.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Commission of Academic Vice-Rectors, together with the University of La Serena and the Catholic University of the North, held the \u201cSecond Seminar on Curricular Innovation: Equity, Inclusion, and Innovation: Opportunity and Success for All.\u201d The seminar was inaugurated with the participation of the Rector of the University of La Serena, Professor Nibaldo Avil\u00e9s; the Rector of the University of La Frontera, Professor Sergio Bravo, who chairs the Teaching Commission of the Council of Rectors; and the Academic Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of the North, Professor Fernando Vial.<\/p>\n<p>This seminar took place in Coquimbo and La Serena between November 22nd and 23rd, 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The main topics and debates addressed were the structural, social and educational inequalities that permeate both the school and university systems (professors Dante Contreras and Carmen Sotomayor, University of Chile), the inclusion strategies implemented by the UNESCO \u2013 PROPEDEUTICO program (professor Fernanda Kri, Academic Vice-Rector USACH), Competencies and Mobility in Higher Education (professor Gustavo Hawes, University of Chile), and academic innovations to promote inclusion and success in higher education (James Wilkinson, Harvard University and George Kuh, Indiana University, United States).<\/p>\n<p>Alongside these presentations, participants took part in workshops with international panelists to delve deeper into experiences and strategies for inclusion and academic success. At the end of the seminar, each day featured engaging presentations on pedagogical innovations by academics from the Catholic University of the North and the University of La Serena, providing an opportunity to share successful experiences.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, the book on Curriculum Innovation, recently published by the Council of Rectors, was presented. It was discussed by the Academic Vice-Rector of the University of La Serena, Professor Jorge Catal\u00e1n, and by the Executive Director of the Council of Rectors, Ms. Mar\u00eda Teresa Marshall.
