{"id":1205,"date":"2012-11-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-23T17:14:21","modified_gmt":"2022-01-23T17:14:21","slug":"603c6d8072678","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2012\/11\/14\/603c6d8072678\/","title":{"rendered":"Vice-rectors of Research from CRUCH discuss science and technology policies"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>The meeting addressed the allocation of funds in the 2013 Budget Law for this sector and the Council of Rectors&#039; disagreement with the possible transfer of CONICYT to the Ministry of Economy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the University of B\u00edo-B\u00edo, the vice-rectors of Research from the universities of the Council of Rectors (CRUCH) met with Rector Luis Alberto Loyola - who chairs the Science and Technology Committee - to analyze the situation of Science, Technology and Innovation in the country, its expression in the 2013 Budget Law and the main challenge of designing a policy in this area for Chile.<\/p>\n<p>This dialogue expressed CRUCH&#039;s disagreement with the possible transfer of the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) to the Ministry of Economy and the need to seriously and broadly debate the situation of institutionalism in Science and Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Juan Larra\u00edn, Vice-Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and President of the Commission of Vice-Rectors for Research, called for a broad debate focused on policy design, stating that in the country &quot;there is a lack of conviction that science and technology are fundamental to the human and economic development of the nation.&quot;.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>En el encuentro se abord\u00f3 la partida de la Ley de Presupuestos 2013 para este sector y el desacuerdo del Consejo de Rectores ante el posible traspaso de CONICYT al Ministerio de Econom\u00eda.
