{"id":1180,"date":"2012-06-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-25T01:01:12","modified_gmt":"2022-01-25T01:01:12","slug":"603c6d8071433","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2012\/06\/20\/603c6d8071433\/","title":{"rendered":"Council of Rectors reaffirms inclusion of the Grade Ranking in the 2013 Admission Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The inclusion of the Grade Ranking in the 2013 Admission Process means that an additional instrument is added to the grades (NEM) and the PSU score in the University Admission and Selection System of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), without replacing any of these factors.<\/p>\n<p>The ranking awards students from each school who have achieved the highest grades during secondary education. In general terms, the ranking aims to order students from each high school according to their academic performance. It recognizes the effort of having completed secondary education with grades above the school average.<\/p>\n<p>Its ultimate goal is to promote greater equity in access to higher education by reducing the weight given to the University Selection Tests (PSU). A more balanced relationship between PSU scores and secondary school performance is expected.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to include the ranking as a selection variable is a process that has been developing for more than twenty years and that last Thursday, June 14, began a new stage in its construction and development, with the unanimous approval of the 25 rectors of the CRUCH.<\/p>\n<p>The final methodology (how the ranking will be calculated and how universities will weight it) will be decided on June 28th at the next CRUCH plenary session and will be explained in detail after that date.
