{"id":1122,"date":"2011-09-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-27T17:02:14","modified_gmt":"2022-01-27T17:02:14","slug":"603c6d806e9d3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2011\/09\/05\/603c6d806e9d3\/","title":{"rendered":"Executive Vice President of CRUCH: &quot;We value the willingness, availability, and openness to achieve progress.&quot;\u00ab"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<div>Rector V\u00edctor P\u00e9rez, along with other representatives of the Council of Rectors, participated in the meeting between the Government and CONFECH held last Saturday at La Moneda.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For nearly four hours, the President of the Republic, Sebasti\u00e1n Pi\u00f1era, held a meeting with representatives of the Confederation of Students of Chile (CONFECH), secondary school students, the Teachers&#039; Association and the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH).<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of the meeting was to seek consensus among the different actors to initiate dialogue and guide an educational reform.<\/p>\n<div>For Rector V\u00edctor P\u00e9rez, executive vice president of the Council of Rectors, this was a very productive meeting, since \u201call the actors moved forward with a willingness to engage in dialogue and we value this availability and openness to achieve progress.\u201d.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>To the above, Rector Juan Manuel Zolezzi added that no points were left out of the dialogue, &quot;the need to strengthen public education was raised, we talked about fees and basic contributions.&quot;.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Finally, Rector Ignacio S\u00e1nchez detailed that there was significant progress on eight of the 12 points of CONFECH&#039;s petition.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On Monday, representatives of this organization met with the Minister of Education, Felipe Bulnes, and received a proposal to begin working groups.
