{"id":1082,"date":"2010-08-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-19T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-28T17:29:56","modified_gmt":"2022-01-28T17:29:56","slug":"603c6d806ce05","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2010\/08\/19\/603c6d806ce05\/","title":{"rendered":"The 1000 Scientists 1000 Classrooms program opens its call for applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>This is one of the flagship activities of the XVI National Science and Technology Week, which will take place from October 4 to 10, 2010 and is organized by the EXPLORA CONICYT Program.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is one of the flagship activities of the National Science and Technology Week, which will take place from October 4 to 10, 2010 and is organized by the EXPLORA CONICYT Program.<\/p>\n<div>1000 Scientists 1000 Classrooms involves scientists, researchers, technologists, graduate students, and other prominent professionals visiting schools across the country to share their expertise with children and young people, introducing them to the world of science. The goal is to bring knowledge and its practitioners to places where it is not usually accessible, demonstrating that science is being done in Chile and that it can be fun.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Through these encounters, many schoolchildren discover that science is very close to them, that they too can develop it, and that it is not difficult.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In this first stage, the EXPLORA CONICYT Program invites scientists from all over the country who want and are able to contribute, to leave their laboratory, their lab coat, their test tubes, their particle accelerator and give a special class for children and young people and be part of this enriching experience that will take them back to school.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>All fields of knowledge are invited to participate. This year, the central theme of the EXPLORA CONICYT Program is Identity and Territory.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Scientists from across the country who wish to participate can visit http:\/\/1000cientificos.explora.cl and complete a form outlining the talk they would like to present. The process is managed by EXPLORA Regional Coordinators, who will contact the registered scientists to schedule their presentation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>These meetings are voluntary and rely on the generosity of the scientific community to bring science closer to students.
