{"id":1072,"date":"2010-05-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-01-28T20:11:50","modified_gmt":"2022-01-28T20:11:50","slug":"603c6d806c73c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consejoderectores.cl\/en\/2010\/05\/17\/603c6d806c73c\/","title":{"rendered":"Council of Rectors and the University of California System explore cooperation alternatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Representatives from Californian institutions met with those in charge of Research, Postgraduate Studies and International Relations from CRUCH universities to exchange opinions and visions on the needs and priorities of the Chilean university system.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On May 17, 2010, within the framework of the Chile California Program, a meeting was held at the Council of Rectors with the California University System (<em>UC SYSTEM<\/em>) represented by Ms. Pamela Jennings, from the Office of the University President; Claudia Mitchell-Kernan of UCLA, Alejandro Delgadillo of UC Merced and Jorge Rojas of UC Davis.<\/p>\n<p>Representing the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) were Rector Patricio Sanhueza of UPLA and the Vice-Rectors of Research and Postgraduate Studies from the University of Santiago, the University of Chile, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Valpara\u00edso, along with Directors of International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, the University of Valpara\u00edso, the Metropolitan University of Education, and the Catholic University of the North; and representatives from the Austral University and the University of Los Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Also participating were Crist\u00f3bal Barros, representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mar\u00eda Teresa Marshall, executive director of CRUCH.<\/p>\n<div>The meeting aimed to exchange opinions and views on the needs and priorities of the Chilean university system and possible alternative support from the California system.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The responses from Ms. Jennings and Ms. Mitchell-Kernan highlighted that we are initiating a reciprocal academic collaboration, and that we must identify priority areas, their respective faculties and academics, to enhance a direct relationship and collaboration that allows not only doctoral training, but also postdoctoral opportunities, the development of joint research projects and the exchange of academics.<\/div>\n<div>The challenge is to identify the parties, both in the University of California System and in the Council of Rectors Universities.<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Representantes instituciones californianas se reunieron con encargados de Investigaci\u00f3n, Postgrado y Relaciones Internacionales de las universidades del CRUCH para intercambiar opiniones y visiones sobre las necesidades y prioridades del sistema universitario chileno.
