To provide a solid foundation in the interdisciplinary linguistic fields that deal with the study of the structure of language and its functioning in relation to the individual and society.<br \/>\n2. To offer a broad overview of the methodologies and instruments for analyzing language problems in areas such as second language acquisition, contrastive analysis, language policies, suprasegmental features of speech, bilingualism and ideology, discourse analysis, sociolinguistic characterizations of speech, etc.<br \/>\n3. To investigate the nature and structure of language in order to formulate valid generalizations regarding linguistic universals and to generate interdisciplinary projects in accordance with the development of the country.<br \/>\n4. To contribute to the preparation of academic human resources with a comprehensive view of the problems and potential of human language who can assume hierarchical responsibilities in the country&#039;s development activities.<br \/>\nBased on the objectives of the Master&#039;s Program, objectives are derived for the specializations in Theory of Learning in English (TALI) and Sociolinguistics of Spanish in America (SEA), in order to contribute to their particular training:<br \/>\nObjectives of the English Language Learning Theory (TALI) specialization<br \/>\n1. To know the phonetic, phonological, morphosyntactic and textual models of the English language.<br \/>\n2. Understand the bio-socio-cognitive principles of second language acquisition.<br \/>\n3. Apply linguistic, discursive and second language acquisition models in the design and development of research.<br \/>\nObjectives of the Sociolinguistics of American Spanish (SEA) specialization<br \/>\n1. To know the phonetic, phonological, morphosyntactic and textual models of the Spanish language.<br \/>\n2. Understand the broad spectrum of sociolinguistic variations of Spanish in America.<br \/>\n3. Apply linguistic, sociolinguistic and discursive models in the design and development of research.<br \/>\nIt is important to note that both specializations are not separate or distant from each other, because they share general and elective courses, namely, Methodology of<br \/>\nLinguistic Research, Critical Discourse Analysis, Contemporary Trends in Linguistics, Pragmatics, among others.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"postulante\">\n<h6>Applicant Profile<\/h6>\n<p>Degree certificate or title in the area of Social Sciences, Humanities and related fields.<br \/>\n-Concentration of grades in higher education.<br \/>\n-Two academic letters of introduction.<br \/>\n-Birth certificate.<br \/>\n-A curriculum vitae.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"postulante\">\n<h6>Graduate profile<\/h6>\n<p>According to the Curriculum of the Master in Linguistics of the University of Santiago de Chile (See Annex 2b), the graduate of the PML will achieve the following competencies:<br \/>\n1. Capacity for scientific leadership, expressed in the knowledge, understanding and rigorous application of the scientific theories and foundations of linguistics, which<br \/>\nallow for the design and development of significant research for the advancement of the discipline.<br \/>\n2. Communication skills, expressed in the ability to transfer knowledge at the various levels and situations required by the work of an expert and specialist in<br \/>\nlanguage-related matters, whether in institutional research teams, in academic specialization programs, or in national or international projects on<br \/>\ndiscipline.<br \/>\n3. Capacity for socio-cultural commitment, expressed in the ability to integrate the development achieved by the discipline into the development of the nation, contributing<br \/>\nscientifically to the social, cultural, educational, anthropological, historical and linguistic challenges of the country.<br \/>\n4. Creative capacity, translated into the ability to innovate continuously in disciplines and interdisciplinary fields, proposing new solutions to scientific problems<br \/>\nabout language and its connections with society and culture, within the framework of humanist values of commitment and solidarity.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"investigacion\">\n<h6>Lines of investigation<\/h6>\n<p>Mention in Second Language Learning Theories (SLT):<br \/>\n1.
